HELLO DOLLY! Briefing
HELLO DOLLY! 29th May to 1st June, 2013 (Half-term week)
This will be one of our most ambitious shows for some time, and will be rehearsed within a limited time-frame. We will hold auditions for named parts (not chorus), to give everyone a fair opportunity to be involved – auditions will be on Thursday 28th February, at 7.30pm, and rehearsals will commence on Sunday 3rd March. Because of the time-scale, anyone taking part will need to be able to give full commitment and not miss rehearsals (except where one or two people have already said that they had holidays or commitments booked). However, we are planning to break down rehearsals for principals/chorus/specific scenes, so it won’t be a case of everyone needing to be available for 3 nights a week for the whole two and a half months. In general, singing and chorus rehearsals will be on Sundays. One of the biggest challenges will be creating the set and staging – anyone who would like to help with this would be very warmly welcomed to the creative team!

Newsletter January 2013
Happy New Year to all our members! Welcome to a brand new year of theatrical adventures…
To dispel the January blues, we have our New Year Social Evening on Friday 25th January, at 7.30, at St. Rumon’s Social Club (formerly Royal British Legion) in Redruth. Cost (payable on the night) will be around £3 per person. NB: The evening will include the launch night for Hello Dolly!, but it is not only for that, so please don’t stay away if you are not intending to do that show! We want to see everyone – this will be a great opportunity to catch up and relax together, with a bar, a pasty supper, a theatrical quiz, and a raffle. It’s also an ideal time to invite any potential new members for the group. Please let Dick know asap if you are attending, and to confirm numbers for pasties. (You can use Facebook, text 07870 979658, or email Richard500@aol.com) Anyone who doesn’t book in advance is welcome to turn up on the night, but won’t get a pasty! If you have any spare Christmas presents that would be suitable as raffle prizes, we would be very grateful – please give them to Dick.
PANTO – 1001 Arabian Nights (and a Matinee) 20th to 23rd February
John and Dika are doing a great job – rehearsals are shaping up really well, and lots of work is going on with the staging and costumes. Please do all you can to publicise the show – tickets are now bookable at rehearsals. If you can help with any of the non-performing work, please contact Dika or John. Any offers to help front-of-house, or raffle prizes, to Dika, please.
Hello Dolly! 29th May to 1st June
Dick is busy with the advance planning for this exciting show. As above, the launch night will be at the New Year Social on the 25th January, and audition pieces will be available then for anyone interested in a part. There will also be a chance to see some of the DVD and hear the songs, for anyone who doesn’t know the show. This is a fabulous show with wonderful songs and great costumes and will give us a great opportunity for showing what we can do with our acting, singing and dancing! Auditions will be on Thursday 28th February, and rehearsals commence on Sunday 3rd March. Dick is planning to break down rehearsals for principals/chorus/specific scenes, so it won’t be a case of everyone needing to be available for 3 nights a week for the whole 3 months. There are loads of non-performing things to do for this show (particularly set-building), so all offers of help gratefully received!
Further productions this year will be a play in the Summer, and a Youth production in October – details to be announced later.

Players Summer Newsletter 2012
Oops should I have called this the Summer edition!??
Still, lots of news to catch up on so here goes.

A slight increase was agreed for next year when adults will be £15 no change for under 18’s.
Two plays and a pasty.
What a successful production! We had an excellent crit from CDA ( they liked the play as well as the pasties!) It was really good to see our members supporting the show.
Our plays are gaining in popularity with a good following. Watch this space for next years’ choice.
Magic of the Musicals.
Dick is once again creating some wonderful sounds with an enthusiastic cast, and this show really has “something for everyone”!. Make sure you spread the word amongst your friends. Dates are 22nd – 25th August. Our chosen charity for the first night is Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Panto – 1001 nights and a matinee.

Building work.
Our thanks, gratitude, congratulations and best wishes go to Kippy and Mike
They have spent a great many hours working back stage and have created a new mezzanine floor/ ceiling/ storage space/hidey hole…
Seriously they have more than doubled our storage space for props, scenery and wardrobe. We were desperate for more space and thanks to the inspiration of these two wonderful guys we should be ok for a long time.
Portreath Fun Day. 29th July. 12 – 6.00
We have been invited to take the role of ‘story lady’ this year. Shelley, Dika and Bar will take turns telling stories. It is an ideal opportunity to give out fliers for our summer show. Please let Dick know if you can spare some time. (Any other publicity ideas or opportunities also welcome).

Message from Carole 18/12/2011
Hi all. Thank you all for your patience and your hard work again this evening. A change of plan for Tuesday evening. Nick Morrison is not available so I have agreed with Chris that I will run act 1 without music. This means the chorus and the junior chorus are not needed on Tuesday evening. I would like to see all the principals please as I wiould like to take the time to tidy up some of the blocking and practice the chairs routine etc.
To those of you I won’t see may I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a dramatic and sparkling new year. See you all on Tuesday 3rd 2012. Xxx
